"Straight Teeth, No Braces, Fast Results!"

Clear Braces FAQs – Clean Clear & Correct Smiles

You’ve never seen braces like this before!
Braces have undergone a facelift over the last decade. Gone are the days when you only had the option of metal braces that you’d have to wear for 2+ years. Clear braces are now more available and affordable than ever in form of Invisalign clear aligners or clear bracketed braces. Heading a boutique orthodontic practice in Mosman, Specialist Orthodontist Dr Vandana Katyal, tells us more about getting straight teeth without the social affliction.

What are invisible braces?
Invisible braces come in two different types – 1) clear bracket and wire braces e.g. Insignia and 2) clear aligners e.g. Invisalign. The clear aligners are the most invisible and comfortable way to straighten teeth. Dr Katyal uses state-of-the-art 3D computer imagine technology to capture all details of your teeth to then create a personalised treatment plan. “It’s basically the new age in braces. Digital and discrete braces are becoming more and more sought after in Australia”.

Do invisible braces work as well as traditional braces?
They work just as well, if not better, than traditional metal wire and bracket braces in most cases. Clear braces are 100% customised to your teeth. Insignia and Invisalign use advanced computer software to create a completely personalised treatment plan and appliance. Each aligner, or bracket is specifically created to fit the individual’s dimensions and requirements. Traditional braces use stock standard brackets and wires that are then manually manipulated by the orthodontist to fit each person. Specialist orthodontists can treat a spectrum of cases with Invisalign, even the most complex cases may be treatment successfully with Invisalign.

How do they work?
Clear Insignia braces work in the same manner as traditional braces but with the added advantage of being clear, digital and personalised. Invisalign clear aligners give you a series of aligners that you wear for 2 weeks then move onto another set of aligners. These aligners move teeth with appropriate placement of gentle controlled movement on teeth. Invisalign aligners control both the amount and timing of the movement. At each stage, only certain teeth are allowed to move – this results in a completely controlled and efficient force delivery system.

How long does it take?
Treatment depends on each individual case, but is generally between 12-18months.

What are the advantages of invisible braces?
Other than they are completely discrete and as close as you can get to invisible, they are significantly more comfortable than traditional braces.  Invisalign clear aligners are removable, so you can still eat and drink what you like and brush and floss normally. But more interesting is that you can see your virtual results and treatment plan before you start. You can see what your teeth will look like at the end – and that’s highly motivating!

Who is right for invisible braces?
Everyone and anyone who wants a discrete way of straightening their teeth can come in and see their suitability. 95% of individuals are suited to invisible braces.
